Sri Lanka Summer Honeymoon is a private tour based on arrival in Colombo on any day of the week. The best time to visit Wilpattu National Park, the north-central plains and the beaches along the east coast of Sri Lanka is between May and September. The high Season is from July to mid-September and the low season is from November through to the first week of December. Peak Season supplements apply for travel during Christmas, New Year and Easter Holidays. All prices are subject to availability at the time of booking. Begin with three nights at a beautifully restored colonial planter’s bungalow set on a working tea estate, where you can wander through rural villages and learn the art of tea making. Explore the Elephant Foundation, where you can get up close to feed and bathe elephants and experience the pooja ceremony at the most revered temple, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. While in the Cultural Triangle, ascend the legendary Sigiriya Rock Fortress, cycle through peaceful villages, witness the spectacular elephant ‘Gathering’ at Minneriya*, and unwind by the pool in the warm late-afternoon sun.

Next, explore the atmospheric ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa by bicycle, one of Sri Lanka’s most evocative historical sites. From there, travel to Pasikudah on the East Coast for a leisurely week of beachside bliss, relaxing on soft sands, swimming in the tranquil Indian Ocean and waking up to breathtaking sunrises with gentle waves lapping.

Conclude your honeymoon with a scenic domestic flight from Batticaloa to Colombo, offering a memorable aerial view of the island’s diverse landscapes.

Day 01 :

Arrive in Sri Lanka

On arrival, you will be met and greeted by your chauffeur guide. Commence the tour with a transfer to your hotel that enjoys a beautiful setting amidst a working tea estate.

Day 02 :

Cooking lesson; estate walk

Accompanied by the estate’s chef, stroll through the organic garden to handpick fresh vegetables and herbs before watching a traditional Sri Lankan curry come to life in an interactive cooking demonstration. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure, or you may choose to explore the vast gardens of the estate on foot.

Day 03 :

Tea Experience

Accompanied by the Estate Manager, stroll through the tea gardens and watch the colourful, saree-clad tea pickers at work. Try your hand at plucking tender tea leaves alongside the estate workers before continuing to the factory, where you’ll discover the intricate journey of tea from leaf to cup. Learn about each stage of production, sample a range of teas, and gain insight into the delicate art of tea blending.

The rest of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy the facilities at your chosen boutique hotel. Alternatively, walking trails can be arranged.

Day 04 :

Temple of the Tooth; arrive in Sigiriya

Set off this morning for Kandy to visit the magnificent Temple of the Tooth, renowned for its gilded roof, intricate woodwork, and beautifully painted walls. The temple houses Sri Lanka’s most revered treasure—the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha, brought to the island in the 4th century AD. After your visit, continue inland, driving through quintessential Sri Lankan villages and small towns on your way to the Cultural Center, Sigiriya. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 05 :

Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Minneriya National Park

This morning we set out to climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, where you can witness a breathtaking view illuminating the ancient citadel. Sigiriya Rock Fortress, often hailed as the Eighth Wonder of the World, is one of Sri Lanka’s most extraordinary landmarks, a towering rock citadel and a true masterpiece of ancient engineering. As you ascend, you’ll see the famous Sigiriya frescoes, vibrant ancient paintings of graceful maidens and the nearby Mirror Wall, once highly polished and now now etched with centuries-old verses written by ancient visitors inspired by the beauty surrounding them.

In the afternoon, take a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, renowned for its large herds of wild elephants and rich birdlife. Explore the park’s lakes, grasslands and forests as you search for wildlife amidst stunning natural scenery.

Day 06 :

Hiriwadunna village

Today we viisit Hiriwadunna Village, a peaceful rural settlement where you can experience traditional Sri Lankan village life. Travel by bullock cart or boat, walk through lush paddy fields and share a cup of tea with the village elders, from whom you can gain an insight into local customs and traditions. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy the hotel facilities.

Day 07 :

Polonnaruwa Ancient Capital; arrive in Pasikudah

Begin your day with a visit to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s famed ancient capital city. A relaxed bicycle ride lets you explore the 11th-century ruins strewn across a single complex. Your tour will include a visit to the Royal Palace of Vijayabahu, originally seven stories high with 1,000 chambers; the Hall of Public Audience, the relic house, originally built to house the tooth relic of Buddha and Gal Vihara, the rock-cut temple renowned for the images of Buddha. Then, continue to the white sandy beaches and the turquoise blue waters of Pasikudah Bay on Sri Lanka’s east coast.

Day 08 :

Pasikudah

Enjoy a walk through the bustling market that sells everything from spices to colourful handicrafts.
